About the role:
The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patientsand families. Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC) is the provision of care that is respectful of, and responsive toindividual patient/family preferences, needs, and values and ensures that those values guide all decisions. Creating a caring environment for patients and families ensures continuity of care and fosters a learning environment. Applicantsare required to have a demonstrated knowledge, understanding and commitment to this care philosophy.
Reporting to the Manager Adult Mental Health Services,
you willbe responsible for providing quality nursing care to patients including complex patient populations whose outcomes arenot predictable. As part of a multidisciplinary health care team, you will practice within the Standards of theCollege of Nurses of Ontario, the Philosophy of patient and family centered care, mission vision, values and the policiesof Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
Applicants must have the following qualifications:
- Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, or the ability to become licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current certification in BCLS
- Recent knowledge in Acute Mental Health Nursing with experiencecaring for patients with addictions, mental status examinations, Trauma Informed Care and developing, leading and evaluating patients groups
- Ability to use the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in conjunction with her/his basic and ongoing knowledge to arrive at individualized careplanning and delivery
- Collaborates and provides consult to Registered PracticeNurse's when patients assigned to the RPN become unstable or have outcomes that are not as expected
- Identify and recognize abnormal or unexpected patient responsesand take appropriate action
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple nursing interventions
- Solid interprofessional and communication skills
In addition to the above qualifications, preference will be given to applicants who:
- Have a certification, or recent continuing education in MentalHealth/Psychiatric Nursing
- Have CPMHN(C) designation
- Knowledge of current legislation,
including the Mental HealthAct
Salary Range: $41.150 to 58.980
