About Happy Tears

Happy Tears creates up-to-date tools for mindful living. Every creation has been intentionally designed to inspire our mindful community to prioritize their wellness and build a more meaningful life.

Our hero collection of bilingual card games for meaningful connection, Happy Tears: The Game, was designed to inspire deeper and more authentic bonds through playful and vulnerable conversations. The collection now spans seven editions for use with family, friends, partners, kids, colleagues - and, with ourselves. Since 2018, the collection has been welcomed into the homes of over 22,000 happy customers around the world, and counting.

As we enter our next stage of growth—with refreshed packaging, new products and expanded wholesale distribution—we’re looking for a curious and creative junior marketer to help bring it all to life.

The opportunity

We’re looking for an Assistant Manager, Brand, Content & Growth to support the day-to-day growth of Happy Tears across content, eCommerce, wholesale and partnerships.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is equally comfortable filming a Reel, researching potential retail partners, writing a thoughtful email and keeping a campaign organized behind the scenes. You’ll work closely with the founder and gain exposure to many sides of building and growing an independent consumer brand.

What you’ll do

Marketing and content

- Help plan, create and schedule content for Instagram, TikTok, email and other brand channels
- Film and edit short-form video featuring products, the founder, customers and events
- Write engaging, on-brand captions, emails and product copy
- Assist with product launches, seasonal campaigns, giveaways and collaborations
- Help maintain a consistent content calendar and organize creative assets
- Track campaign and content performance, identifying what resonates with our audience
- Support occasional photoshoots, markets, pop-ups and community events

Business development and partnerships

- Research independent retailers,

corporate gifting clients and potential brand partners
- Build and maintain organized prospect lists and partnership trackers
- Support outreach to retailers, organizations, creators and prospective collaborators
- Prepare wholesale materials, product information and sample packages
- Help manage follow-ups, retailer onboarding and ongoing account communication
- Identify relevant partnership, event and media opportunities
- Assist with corporate gifting inquiries and customized proposals

eCommerce and coordination

- Support updates to Shopify product pages, promotions and website content
- Help coordinate product samples, influencer mailers and marketing materials
- Maintain organized project timelines, files and campaign documentation
- Assist with customer insights, competitor research and general administrative needs
- Pitch in wherever needed—this is a small, growing business where no two weeks look exactly the same

Who you are You may be a recent graduate or an early-career marketer with approximately one to two years of relevant experience through employment, internships, freelance work, student organizations or your own creative projects.

You are

- A strong writer and communicator with excellent attention to detail
- Comfortable creating content for Instagram and TikTok, with a pulse on cultural trends
- Visually thoughtful and able to recognize what feels polished and on-brand
- Organized, resourceful and able to move between creative and administrative work
- Friendly and confident when communicating with customers, retailers and partners
- Interested in entrepreneurship, consumer brands, wellness, mental health or meaningful connection
- Comfortable working independently while asking thoughtful questions when needed

- Based in Montréal and available for occasional in-person work and events

Skills that would be especially helpful
- Experience with Canva and short-form video editing tools such as CapCut
- Familiarity with Shopify, Klaviyo, Meta Business Suite or similar platforms
- Photography, videography, and/or basic graphic-design abilities
- Experience in retail, eCommerce, sales, partnerships or customer service
- Student of psychology or related field
- Passion or strong interest in mental health and well-being
- Fluency in English and French
- A valid driver’s licence is an asset but not required

You do not need to check every box. We’re especially interested in someone with strong instincts, genuine curiosity and motivation to learn.

Why join Happy Tears?

- Gain hands-on experience across brand marketing, content, eCommerce and business development
- Contribute ideas directly and see your work move quickly from concept to execution
- Help grow an independent Montréal brand with a meaningful social mission
- Work in a creative, collaborative and LGBTQ+-affirming environment
- Receive mentorship from a founder with 10+ years of experience in brand management, retail marketing and entrepreneurship
- Remote-work flexibility

How to apply Please send your résumé and a brief note introducing yourself to [email protected].

We’d also love to see two or three examples that demonstrate your creativity or communication skills. These could include social content, photography, writing, a school project, a personal account or work completed for another organization. A formal portfolio is welcome but not required.

In your note, please answer the following three questions:

1. Why Happy Tears interests you.
2. Which part of the role excites you most.
3. One brand whose content or community-building you admire—and why.

Happy Tears is a queer-owned business and proud equal opportunity employer.
