We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Audio/Video Transcript Proofreader to work with us on a contract basis in Ontario, Canada. This is an independent contractor position, not an employee position, and compensation is paid per completed page.

Position Overview The Transcript Proofreader will review completed transcripts against the original audio or video recording to ensure the final document is accurate, complete, properly formatted, and professionally written.

Responsibilities

Proofread completed audio and video transcripts

Compare transcripts against the original recording for accuracy

Correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and formatting

Identify and correct missing, incorrect, or misheard words

Ensure names, terminology, dates, and other details are accurately captured

Follow provided transcription and formatting standards

Maintain strict confidentiality when handling recordings and transcripts

Complete assigned work accurately and within required timelines

Qualifications

Exceptional command of written English

Strong proofreading, grammar, spelling,



and punctuation skills

Excellent attention to detail

Ability to accurately understand spoken English and different speaking styles/accents

Comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines

Strong computer and document-formatting skills

Previous transcription, proofreading, editing, legal, medical, administrative, or similar experience is an asset

Must have reliable internet access and appropriate computer equipment
