AVFX Technician Position(s) - Casual, Multiple
Position Summary
Animation and Visual Effects Technicians support the technical aspects of the Animation and Visual Effects program. The focus of this position is on assisting students and faculty with a primary focus on the online cohort of students and support of online students.
The Casual AVFX Technicians specifically provide support within various Animation & Visual Effects first, second-, and third-year courses; such support normally consists of 2-6 hours of support per week per course. Hours and courses may vary from week to week. Technicians will be assigned specific courses based on alignment with course needs.
Position Responsibilities
- Supports AVFX class activities including practical work and ensure proper support for student learning under the guidance of the instructor of record.
- Focuses on supporting students in the online student cohort. This may consist of time in classes supporting students in the use of software, monitoring class messages, answering technical questions, or escalating support to the Instructor as needed.
- Assists students to use animation and visual effects applications and software packages and their features in the completion of class projects or assignments.
- Answers questions as appropriate, referring students to faculty when related to classroom content.
- Answers technical questions from students and/or faculty.
- Helps AVFX students understand how to use software and pieces of technical equipment safely and effectively.
- Assists faculty with technical aspects of project delivery and process demonstration.
- Identifies, diagnoses, analyzes, troubleshoots,
and resolves all technical hardware and software issues.
- Identifies and escalates situations requiring immediate attention.
- Additional duties as discussed with the Associate Dean relevant to the position.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a one-year college certificate, one-year university or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred candidate(s) would be a third (3rd) or fourth (4) year AVFX student.
- Three (3) year degree, three years of university in an AVFX related area.
- Experience with animation software.

$29.51 per hour
Benefits and Compensation Information An additional 15% of the hourly rate in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits.
