As we expand our operations into Canada, we are looking for an experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper to take complete ownership of our day-to-day accounting operations with precision, independence, and zero tolerance for errors.

This is a genuine, currently available position. We are actively hiring and looking to fill this role.

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Location: Fully Remote, Open to candidates anywhere in Canada

Compensation: CA$65,000 - CA$115,000 per year, based on experience + Performance Bonus

Schedule: Monday through Friday, standard business hours

Reports To: Financial Controller

About the Role

As Full Charge Bookkeeper at MarathonFoto, you will own the entire bookkeeping function from end to end. You will manage accounts payable and receivable, process payroll, reconcile all accounts, maintain the general ledger, prepare financial reports, and support the month-end and year-end close process. You will work closely with our Financial Controller and Head of Operations to ensure our books are clean, compliant, and audit-ready at all times.

Responsibilities

General Ledger and Bookkeeping

- Maintain the full general ledger and chart of accounts with accuracy and proper classification at all times
- Record, categorize, and post all daily financial transactions using double-entry bookkeeping principles
- Prepare and post journal entries, adjusting entries, and accruals with proper documentation and support
- Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations across all accounts with zero uncategorized balances
- Reconcile credit card statements, ACH and EFT transactions, wire transfers, and cheque payments
- Monitor cash flow and account balances daily and flag any anomalies or discrepancies immediately

Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Manage full-cycle accounts payable including processing, verifying, and approving vendor invoices for payment
- Manage full-cycle accounts receivable including generating invoices, tracking collections, and following up on outstanding balances
- Process payments via EFT, wire transfer, cheque, and credit card accurately and on schedule




- Maintain and organize vendor documentation and prepare year-end T4A filings for all applicable vendors and contractors
- Manage vendor relationships and resolve billing disputes professionally and promptly
- Onboard new vendors, verify banking details, and maintain accurate vendor records

Payroll Processing:
- Process bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time using Canadian payroll software
- Ensure all CRA source deductions including CPP, EI, and income tax are accurately calculated, remitted, and reconciled
- Assist with preparation and filing of T4s, T4As, and ROEs as required
- Track and record employee expense reports and reimbursements accurately
- Coordinate with HR and Operations to ensure employee data, pay rates, and deductions are always current and compliant with applicable provincial employment standards

Financial Reporting and Month-End Close:
- Support the month-end and year-end close process by preparing account reconciliations, schedules, and supporting workpapers
- Prepare and deliver accurate monthly financial reports including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow summaries for leadership review
- Assist with budget tracking and monitor actual expenses against forecasts, flagging variances proactively
- Prepare and organize supporting documentation for external accountants during annual reviews or audits
- Assist with HST/GST/PST preparation and filing where applicable across applicable provinces
- Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records and digital filing systems for all transactions

Compliance and Internal Controls:
- Ensure all bookkeeping transactions comply with company policies, internal controls, and Canadian GAAP or ASPE standards as applicable
- Ensure compliance with CRA obligations including source deductions, GST/HST remittances, and annual filings
- Identify opportunities to improve bookkeeping processes and increase automation
- Document bookkeeping procedures and maintain updated process guides for internal reference
- Flag any suspicious transactions, duplicate payments, or potential issues immediately to the Financial Controller

Required Qualifications

- 4 to 6 years of full charge bookkeeping experience managed independently
- Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks Online or similar Canadian accounting software




- Demonstrated mastery of double-entry bookkeeping and general ledger management
- Proven experience managing full-cycle accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations simultaneously
- Solid working knowledge of Canadian payroll requirements including CPP, EI, income tax, T4s, and ROEs
- Experience with CRA remittances including source deductions and GST/HST filings
- Experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets

Preferred Qualifications

- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPB designation from the Institute of Professional Bookkeepers of Canada or equivalent
- QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification
- Experience with Canadian payroll platforms such as Wagepoint, Payworks, ADP Canada, or Ceridian
- Experience with multi-entity bookkeeping across multiple business units
- Familiarity with provincial sales tax requirements across multiple provinces
- Experience in e-commerce, media, events, or digital technology companies

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary: CA$65,000 - CA$115,000 per year based on experience, plus performance bonus
