Equinox VGM is currently inviting applications for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing team as the company ramps up mine operations and production.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Mine Engineer, the Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible to oversee the geotechnical programs, providing technical design analysis, and conveying information on design recommendations. Further to this, they will be involved with geotechnical data collection, conducting audits, and supervising work as it relates to the geotechnical scope.

This position is located at the Mine site, working on a 14 days in/14 days out rotation.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities

- - Demonstrates leadership in Health, Safety, and Environment through personal behaviors and conversations.
- Establish and promote a respectful and healthy work environment at all times.
- Actively participate in and help lead site safety initiatives.
- Develop and maintain the ground control management plan.
- Plan and conduct geotechnical assessments effectively.
- Complete open pit stability analysis for the operating pits, dumps, and conceptual studies.
- Analyze geotechnical findings, perform appropriate calculations, and prepare data reports.




- Develop proposals and determine cost and schedule for investigations with external consultants.
- Provide direction to Mine Technical Services and Operations teams with field inspection activities.
- Evaluate team performance and determine training needs to meet performance objectives.
- Review and approve geotechnical designs.
- Review construction design proposals and approve geotechnical aspects.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education And Experience Required

- - Bachelor’s degree in mining, Geological, Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an open pit mining operation.
- Experience in a remote work site is required.

Skills And Knowledge

- - Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements at remote sites.
- Development, coaching, and training coordination of all direct reports to help team succeed.
- Proven success in mid-to-large industrial projects.
- Relevant qualifications in appropriate area of expertise.
- Ability to interpret engineering plans and offer sound technical expertise with regards to mine design.
- Knowledge of the OHS, mining, and construction regulations.
- Effective time management skills and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Good computer skills with competence using Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to influence and inspire others and work with cross-functional relationships.
- A valid driver license and a driver’s abstract.
