Role Description The Caregiver role is a part-time, on-site position based in Edmonton, AB. Caregivers provide non-medical support to older adults in their homes, including companionship, conversation, and engagement in daily activities. Day-to-day tasks may involve assisting with light housekeeping, meal preparation, personal care such as bathing and grooming, and support with mobility and toileting.
Caregivers may also provide transportation to appointments and errands, and help clients during at-home recovery following medical or rehabilitative treatment. The role involves observing and reporting changes in client condition, following care plans,
maintaining clear communication with the office and families, and promoting a secure, respectful, and dignified environment for each client.
Qualifications
- Ability to provide compassionate companionship, emotional support, and respectful personal care to older adults.
- Skills in assisting with daily living activities such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, mobility support, and incontinence care.
- Capacity to follow care plans, observe and report changes in client condition, and maintain accurate documentation as required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust with clients, families, and coworkers.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to assist with driving clients to appointments and errands when needed.
- Ability to work part-time, including possible evenings, weekends, and holidays, with flexibility to meet client scheduling needs.
- Previous experience in caregiving, home care, or working with older adults is an asset but not always required; training may be provided.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant caregiving or health-related certificates are considered an advantage.
- Commitment to maintaining client privacy, safety, and dignity, and to following all organizational policies and procedures.
