About Hopespyre Society Inc.Hopespyre Society Inc. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting neurodivergent, 2SLGBTQIA+, and neuroqueer individuals. We aim to create affirming, accessible, and inclusive spaces where people can develop greater confidence, pursue personally meaningful goals, and build lives that reflect their authentic identities.

Our services are grounded in respect, self-determination, accessibility, intersectionality, and the recognition that neurodivergence and queerness are natural forms of human diversity.

Position SummaryHopespyre Society Inc. is seeking a compassionate and affirming Life Coach to support neuroqueer individuals in identifying goals, building practical skills, navigating barriers, and creating sustainable strategies for personal growth.

The Life Coach will use a collaborative, strengths-based, and person-centred approach. Rather than attempting to “correct” neurodivergent traits or impose conventional expectations, the coach will help clients better understand their needs, recognize their strengths, advocate for themselves, and pursue goals that are meaningful to them.

This position may involve supporting clients with executive functioning, confidence, relationships, communication, education, employment, daily routines, life transitions, identity development, and self-advocacy.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide individualized life-coaching sessions to neurodivergent, queer, transgender, non-binary, and neuroqueer clients.
- Work collaboratively with clients to identify personally meaningful, realistic, and measurable goals.
- Help clients recognize their strengths, values, interests, needs, and preferred ways of functioning.
- Support clients with executive-functioning needs, including planning, organization, prioritization, time management, task initiation, and follow-through.
- Assist clients in developing sustainable routines and strategies that accommodate fluctuating energy, sensory needs, disability, chronic illness, burnout, and other access considerations.
- Support clients as they navigate life transitions, employment, education, relationships, independent living, identity exploration, and community participation.
- Help clients develop self-advocacy, boundary-setting, decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Encourage client autonomy and avoid imposing neurotypical, cisnormative, heteronormative, or productivity-based definitions of success.
- Use affirming approaches that respect clients’ identities, communication styles, bodies, relationships, and lived experiences.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to the effects of masking, minority stress, discrimination, rejection sensitivity, sensory overload, executive dysfunction, and neurodivergent burnout.
- Provide accountability and encouragement without using shame, coercion, punishment, or ableist expectations.
- Collaboratively create action plans that are flexible, accessible, and responsive to each client’s circumstances.

- Regularly review progress with clients and adjust goals or strategies when their priorities, needs, or circumstances change.
- Provide coaching services using accessible communication methods and reasonable accommodations whenever possible.
- Maintain timely, accurate, objective, and confidential records in accordance with Hopespyre’s policies and applicable privacy requirements.
- Establish and maintain clear professional boundaries with clients.
- Obtain informed consent and clearly explain the nature, purpose, scope, and limitations of life-coaching services.
- Recognize concerns that fall outside the scope of life coaching and refer clients to appropriate regulated health professionals, crisis services, or community resources when necessary.
- Participate in organizational meetings, training, consultation, supervision, or professional development as required.
- Contribute to a respectful, inclusive, trauma-aware, and culturally responsive organizational environment.

Scope of PracticeThe Life Coach provides goal-oriented, non-clinical support. Life coaching is not psychotherapy, psychological assessment, diagnosis, crisis intervention, or medical treatment.

The successful candidate must not represent coaching services as therapy or provide services reserved for regulated health professionals unless they are independently qualified, registered, and authorized to do so.

When a client requires mental-health treatment, clinical assessment, crisis support, or another service beyond the coach’s qualifications, the coach must communicate the limitation respectfully and facilitate an appropriate referral.

Required Qualifications

- Education, training, certification, or substantial experience in life coaching, neurodiversity-affirming practice, social services, community support, disability services, education, or a related field.
- Demonstrated understanding of neurodivergence, including experiences associated with ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, sensory differences, executive dysfunction, and other forms of cognitive diversity.
- Demonstrated knowledge of 2SLGBTQIA+ identities, communities, terminology, and systemic barriers.
- Ability to provide gender-affirming and neurodiversity-affirming support.
- Solid active-listening, interpersonal, communication, and collaborative goal-setting skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and accurate documentation.
- Ability to recognize when a client’s needs exceed the scope of life coaching.
- Commitment to anti-oppressive, anti-racist, disability-affirming, trauma-aware, and culturally responsive practices.
- Ability to work respectfully with clients from diverse cultural, racial, socioeconomic, spiritual, disability, gender, and sexual identities.

- Reliable access to the technology and private workplace required to provide confidential virtual services, if applicable.
- Satisfactory vulnerable-sector check, where required by the position or populations served.

Preferred Qualifications
- Certification from a recognized coaching program or professional coaching organization.
- Lived experience as a neurodivergent, queer, transgender, non-binary, disabled, or otherwise marginalized person.
- Previous experience supporting neuroqueer or multiply marginalized individuals.
- Training in ADHD coaching, autism-informed coaching, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed practice, harm reduction, crisis recognition, or suicide-intervention awareness.
- Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication, sensory accessibility, plain-language communication, or other accessible service-delivery methods.
- Knowledge of community resources, disability supports, employment services, and 2SLGBTQIA+ services available in Ontario or elsewhere in Canada.
- Experience working within a not-for-profit, community-based, or social-impact organization.

- Cultural humility
- Patience and adaptability
- Non-judgmental communication
- Collaborative problem-solving
- Reliability and accountability
- Awareness of professional boundaries
- Commitment to accessibility and inclusion
- Willingness to receive feedback and continue learning
