Role Description The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will work on-site in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada, under the supervision of a registered occupational therapist in a contract role. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing individualized treatment plans, facilitating therapy sessions, and supporting clients with sensory processing, motor skills, and daily living activities in clinic and community settings. The role involves documenting client progress, preparing activity materials, and collaborating with caregivers, families, and community partners to reinforce therapeutic goals.
The COTA will assist with home programs,
school-based strategies, and participation in inclusive recreational activities, while maintaining professional standards and relevant regulations.
Qualifications
- Strong foundational skills in Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation, including implementing treatment plans and therapeutic activities under supervision.
- Demonstrated experience in Patient Care and Home Care, with the ability to support clients and caregivers across home, school, and community environments.
- Ability to contribute to Program Development, including adapting activities and supporting community-based and inclusive recreational initiatives.
- Completion of an accredited Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) or equivalent OT support program and eligibility to work in Ontario, Canada.
- Knowledge of pediatric and family-centered practice is an asset, along with experience in sensory processing, motor development, and daily living skills training.
- Effective communication, documentation, and teamwork skills, with a collaborative and culturally responsive approach to client and caregiver interactions.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification and qualified liability insurance are preferred; familiarity with local school and community systems is beneficial.
