SUMMARY
Green Infrastructure Partners (GIP) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Chief Engineer to lead the Temporary Works Engineering team within the GTA Construction Group. The Chief Engineer serves as the senior technical authority responsible for engineering governance, technical excellence, risk management, staff leadership, and support of project delivery, pursuits, and innovation initiatives across civil infrastructure and bridge construction projects.
PRIMARY SCOPE OF ROLE
Engineering Leadership & Governance
- Provide technical leadership and serve as the Engineer of Record for Temporary Works.
- Establish engineering standards, procedures, design guidelines, and quality assurance processes.
- Lead technical reviews and risk assessments for critical construction operations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and PEO obligations.
- Technical Excellence
- Direct design and review of formwork, falsework, temporary bridges, work platforms, excavation support systems, lifting and jacking systems, foundations, and fall protection systems.
- Review and approve calculations, models, drawings, and construction methodologies.
- Lead constructability reviews and value engineering initiatives.
People Leadership
- Recruit, mentor, develop, and evaluate engineering staff.
- Manage workload planning, resource allocation, and succession planning.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Project & Business Support
- Support major pursuits, estimates, proposals, and alternative construction methodologies.
- Collaborate with operations, project management, and executive leadership.
Construction Support
- Conduct site inspections and technical reviews.
- Issue Certificates of Conformance when required.
- Provide technical support for critical construction activities.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 15 years of progressive structural engineering experience in infrastructure, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering; master’s degree considered an asset.
- Skilled Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed in Ontario.
- Advanced expertise with structural analysis and engineering software including SAP2000, RISA, Mathcad, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Excel.
- Strong communication, leadership, and project management capabilities.
- Valid G driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
- Results-driven with an ability to deliver success in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to connect and interact with people to seek different perspectives.
- Superb communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities.
- Demonstrate versatility and resourcefulness in overcoming business challenges
WHAT WE OFFER
- Expected Base Salary: [$120,00- - $165,000] per year. The actual base salary will depend on several factors including experience, qualifications, internal equity,
work location and market expectations.
