Location: Ottawa West End – primarily on-site, with some flexibility for remote work We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Director of Finance to join an established organization in Ottawa’s West End. This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the accounting function, strengthening financial processes and controls, and providing meaningful financial insight to support business growth and strategic decision-making. The successful candidate will be a hands-on, modern accounting leader who brings grit, strong business judgment, excellent communication skills, and a continuous-improvement mindset .

You will lead a team of approximately 12, with 2 direct reports , and work closely with the CFO and senior leadership team. Lead and oversee the day-to-day accounting operations across a multi-company environment. Review and analyze monthly financial statements, management reports, and financial performance.

Lead the preparation and coordination of year-end audited financial statements and work closely with external auditors. Prepare and monitor cash-flow forecasts and projections to support financial planning. Lead, mentor, develop, and motivate the accounting team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.

Oversee accounts receivable and collections processes. Establish, evaluate, and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Identify financial and operational risks and implement appropriate controls and solutions.

Drive process improvements and introduce modern tools, technology, and efficiencies across the accounting function.



Support due diligence and the financial integration of acquisitions and recent business entities. Partner with senior leadership to provide financial analysis, insight, and recommendations that support business objectives.

Manage special projects and provide ad hoc financial reporting and analysis as required.7+ years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience. ~ Experience in real estate, property management, construction, or a related industry is an asset. ~ Previous experience managing and developing an accounting team. ~ Strong financial reporting, budgeting, cash-flow, audit, and internal controls experience. ~ Demonstrated success improving accounting processes, systems, and procedures. ~ Advanced Excel skills. ~ Experience with Procore is an asset. ~ Experience with accounting or property management platforms such as MRI, Maestro, or Yardi is an asset. ~ Beyond technical accounting expertise, we're looking for someone who brings: Modern thinking – someone who embraces technology, automation, and new ways of improving the accounting function. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with the CFO and senior leadership, gain broader exposure to the business, and potentially step into a CFO role within the next few years .
