Superior Towing is looking for a Class 1 or Class 3 driver to join our Edson operation as a Tow & Recovery Operator. Class 1 is preferred; Class 3 drivers will be considered.

This is a hands-on position involving light-, medium- and heavy-duty towing and recovery. Tow truck experience is an asset, but it is not required. We are willing to train the right commercial driver with transferable experience.

The work is varied and unpredictable. One call may be a straightforward tow, while the next may involve a collision scene, winching, equipment transport, roadside assistance or a more complex recovery.

Responsibilities

- Operate deck trucks and wreckers for light- and medium-duty towing
- Perform heavy towing and recovery work where qualified
- Complete winching and vehicle recovery operations
- Respond to collision scenes and police-requested towing
- Provide roadside assistance
- Transport vehicles and equipment
- Perform highway and remote-area work
- Inspect towing and recovery equipment before use
- Secure vehicles and equipment for transport
- Maintain required job, inspection and Hours of Service documentation
- Communicate professionally with customers, police, emergency responders and dispatch
- Perform shop or mechanical work when available and within the operator’s skill level
- Class 1 operators may also operate tractor-trailer and Landoll equipment

Experience and Requirements Tow truck experience is preferred but not required.

Transferable commercial driving experience may include:





- Lowboy or equipment hauling
- Flat deck
- Heavy transport
- Oilfield transportation
- Tractor-trailer
- Equipment operation
- Similar commercial driving experience

Applicants must:
- Hold a valid Class 1 or Class 3 Alberta driver’s licence
- Be at least 25 years old due to insurance requirements
- Provide a 5-year commercial driver’s abstract
- Have no DUI or impaired-driving convictions
- Have no distracted-driving convictions
- Have no more than 3 demerit points
- Successfully complete a criminal record check
- Be able to work safely and independently
- Be dependable, accountable and able to problem-solve
- Be comfortable working outdoors in changing weather and roadside conditions
- Be physically capable of handling towing and recovery equipment

Paid towing and recovery training is provided. Schedule The position follows a 10 days on / 4 days off rotation.

During the 10-day working rotation, operators are on call and available for dispatch within applicable Hours of Service requirements. Operators do not need to remain at the shop while waiting for calls.

Operators are home most nights, although occasional longer-distance jobs may require one or two nights away.

The four scheduled days off are intended to be days off. Additional work may occasionally be offered, but there is no expectation to accept it.

Pay: $75,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
