We are looking for a caring, dependable, and experienced Community Inclusion Support Worker to join our team and provide consistent 2:1 community-based support.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building positive relationships, supporting meaningful community participation, and helping individuals develop independence, confidence, and life skills.
EXPERIENCE SUPPORTING INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AND BEHAVIOURAL NEEDS IS REQUIRED.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 2:1 Community Inclusion support in community settings.
- Support a non-verbal individual using appropriate communication strategies, including ASL and visual communication.
- Support participation in recreational, social, and community activities.
- Assist the individual in working toward personal goals and developing life skills.
- Encourage independence, choice, confidence, and positive community engagement.
- Support safe community access and transportation.
- Support medication administration and follow the individual's seizure response plan, as required.
- Ensure safety, dignity, and respectful, person-centred support at all times.
- Maintain professional communication with the individual, family, and team members.
- Complete daily reports, progress notes, incident reports, and other required documentation.
Skills & Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities (e.g., autism).
- Experience supporting non-verbal individuals is required.
- Knowledge of ASL (American Sign Language) is required.
- Training and/or experience in epilepsy awareness and seizure response is required.
- Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable personal vehicle.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification.
- Clear Criminal Record Check (including vulnerable sector).
- MANDT or NCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) certification is preferred.
- Robust interpersonal, communication, and observation skills.
- Ability to complete clear, objective, and professional documentation.
- Reliable and able to maintain a consistent weekly schedule.
Schedule
- Part-time, consistent schedule
- Monday, Wednesday & Friday
- 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM
- 12 hours per week
- Support is provided on a 2:1 staffing basis
This position is ideal for someone looking for consistent part-time weekday hours and who has experience supporting individuals with complex communication, behavioural, and medical needs. Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour
