Description

The Project Planner / Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing integrated project schedules to support the successful planning, execution, and control of turnaround and major outage activities. This role plays a critical part in ensuring work is properly defined, sequenced, resourced, and prepared so activities can be executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.

The successful candidate will work closely with Project Management, Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Maintenance, and contractors to coordinate planning activities, identify risks and constraints, and provide accurate schedule reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Project Planning & Scheduling

- Develop and maintain integrated project schedules using Primavera P6.
- Support scope definition, work sequencing, resource planning, and execution readiness.
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of project schedules and planning data.
- Identify critical path activities, key milestones, dependencies, and near-term priorities.
- Prepare look-ahead schedules, progress updates, schedule reports, and management summaries.
- Collect and incorporate progress updates from engineering, procurement, maintenance, and construction teams.

SAP & Materials Coordination

- Create and maintain work orders, requisitions, and material reservations within SAP.
- Search for and reserve required materials to support project execution.
- Coordinate the creation of new material numbers within MMRS when required.
- Work with Procurement, vendors, and Project Management to support rate reviews, requisition creation, and purchase order readiness.

Schedule Analysis & Project Controls

- Perform schedule impact assessments and develop "what-if" scenarios to support project decision-making.
- Maintain planning documentation, including assumptions, constraints, work packages, progress records, and schedule change history.




- Support schedule review meetings through preparation of reports, analysis, charts, and presentations.
- Ensure schedules align with project scope, project controls processes, and company standards.
- Identify potential risks, constraints, and schedule impacts and communicate them to project leadership.

Stakeholder Coordination

- Collaborate with Project Management, Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Construction, Cost Control, Maintenance, and external contractors.
- Coordinate planning priorities and execution requirements across multiple disciplines.
- Promote planning practices that prioritize safety, quality, productivity, and effective project execution.

Qualifications

- Degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Controls, or a related discipline
- Minimum 10 years of project planning and scheduling experience supporting major capital projects.
- Advanced hands‑on experience with Primavera P6.
- Strong SAP experience, including work order creation, requisitions, material searches, reservations, and procurement coordination.
- Experience supporting industrial turnarounds, outages, maintenance events, or capital projects.
- Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, and project controls principles.
- Ability to interpret engineering, procurement, construction, and maintenance information and translate it into executable schedules.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.




- Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities in a fast‑paced project environment.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Preferred Skills

- Experience supporting large-scale industrial, oil & gas, energy, or petrochemical turnaround projects.
- Experience with SAP materials management and procurement processes.
- Experience developing integrated schedules across multiple contractors and disciplines.
- Strong understanding of construction and maintenance execution practices.
- Experience with schedule reporting, progress measurement, and project controls.

Compensation

Pay Rate: $85.02–$126.50/hour, depending on experience

Contract Length : 52 Weeks

Location : Lloydminster, Saskatchewan (Remote with onsite requirements)

Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
