Overview
As a Data Analyst on Avison Young’s Market Intelligence team, you will help turn commercial real estate data into insights that support decision-making across local and national markets.
In this role, you will manage, validate, analyze, and enhance data within Avison Young’s technology platforms, working with a wide range of commercial real estate information, including property, leasing, investment, economic, demographic, and market data. Your work will support local business priorities while contributing to national initiatives and collaborating with colleagues across Canada.
From tracking market activity and improving data quality to identifying trends in office, industrial, retail, and investment markets,
you will play a hands-on role in helping real estate professionals and clients make informed, data-driven decisions. You will also contribute to projects that strengthen Avison Young's technology platforms and expand the firm's market intelligence capabilities.

Responsibilities
- Maintain, validate, cleanse, and update commercial real estate data within Avison Young’s proprietary platforms, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and integrity of property, lease, sale, availability, company, ownership, image, and document records.
- Monitor data quality through regular reviews, audits, and quality-control processes, identifying and resolving discrepancies to ensure data is accurate, properly structured, and aligned with business requirements.
- Collect, research, and enrich commercial real estate data from a variety of sources, including industry publications, public records, regulatory filings, company websites, investor presentations, and third-party data providers.
- Track and maintain information on leasing activity, investment transactions, developments, availabilities, tenant movements, ownership changes, and broader market trends to support market intelligence initiatives.
- Conduct real estate research and data analysis using internal and external resources, uncovering trends, patterns, and insights that support business decisions, research projects, and client service initiatives.
- Leverage company-approved AI, data, and analytics tools to support data validation, quality assurance, workflow optimization, and the continuous improvement of real estate datasets.
- Prepare data summaries, visualizations, and analytical outputs for market reports, presentations, and other internal and external deliverables.
- Collaborate with research, data, GIS, and technology teams across Canada on data initiatives, process improvements,
and projects that enhance Avison Young’s market intelligence and technology platforms.
Qualifications Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Data science, Computer Science, Economics, Business, Geography, Urban Studies, or a similar field.
- Min 1 year of professional experience in real estate data analytics, research, or a real estate‑adjacent role.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation and analysis.
- Experience with SQL; familiarity with Python and/or R is an asset.
- Comfort with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, ThoughtSpot) and the ability to present information clearly using charts, graphs, and tables.
