Registered Pharmacy TechnicianLocation: Central Zone, Dickson Building - QEIIUnion: NSGEUType of Employment: Casual Hourly FT long-assignment (100%) x 1Posting Closing Date: 24-Aug-26About the OpportunityReporting to the Pharmacy Manager/Operations Manager, the Registered Pharmacy Technician (Pharmacy Practice Assistant) participates in the provision of secure, competent, patient or family centered ethical care, ensuring the goals and needs of the patient are prioritized and individualized; prepares, packages and dispenses medication under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.Responsibilities include:compounding of sterile and non-sterile dosage formsdispensing drugs to inpatients and outpatients in unit dosephysician order entryworking with automationinventory controlmedication reconciliationCIVA systemspreparation of chemotherapy dosesdistributing narcoticsparticipating in quality programs and patient safety initiativesAbout YouGraduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician ProgramLicensure and registration in Nova Scotia as a Pharmacy Technician (NSPR) requiredIf there are no candidates who meet the above qualification, candidates actively pursuing Pharmacy Technician licensure within the Province of Nova Scotia will be consideredIf there are no candidates who meet the above qualification, Pharmacy Practice Assistants may be consideredDrug administration by injection technical permit (Pharmacy Technician) an assetBLS (Basic Life Support) requiredExperience as a pharmacy technician/pharmacy practice assistant, preferably in a hospital, an assetKnowledge of sterile technique and special precautions used with chemotherapy are an assetExperience in unit dose drug distribution systems, automation technology, decentralized medication dispensing cabinets, an assetKnowledge of medical terminology,
