This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals who want to grow their career, engage in a variety of projects and disciplines, and enjoy autonomy in their work.The ideal candidate will have a high level of attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication, and experience working for a General Contractor. The ideal individual will also love what they do, be self-motivated and accountable, and adaptable.The Senior Estimator will be responsible for estimating a variety of commercial and light industrial projects with a direct contribution to cost management and budgeting for various high-level projects. You will be responsible for gathering all data required for preparing lump sum, unit rate and cost plus detailed estimates along with conceptual estimating,



cost analysis and estimate coordination.RESPONSIBILITIES:Create estimates for commercial and light industrial projects, using whatever designs, drawings, sketches and information that is availableReview and develop discipline and multi-discipline materials takeoffs (MTO)Review project plans and specifications and coordinate with the team to confirm the complete scopeIdentify risk issues and their order of magnitudePrepare instructions to bidders, bid form and other bid solicitation informationEvaluate and develop construction rates, subcontract cost estimates and proposalsPerform productivity analysis of cost estimates; perform comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between projectsReview designs and specifications for cost effectiveness; provide recommendationsfor alternativesContact necessary sub-trades and suppliers for estimates; supply required drawings and dataProactively handle construction-related questions from sub-trades and suppliersComplete preliminary construction schedulesPresent the estimate to the required parties when requiredLiaise with the Business Development function to ensure they are apprised of the high-level details regarding the estimateReview of completed estimates vs.



the estimates for improvement of the accuracy of future estimatesParticipate in the estimate/project handover meeting with OperationsQUALIFICATIONS:Minimum 8 years of experience in construction and cost estimatingFormal education in construction (Diploma/Certificate) is considered an assetQuantity Surveying or accounting-related degree and/or relevant experience would be an assetUnderstanding of a construction work site is considered an asset.
