Role Description The Employment Counsellor is a full-time, in office role located in Winnipeg, MB. This role supports community members in developing employment plans, preparing for job searches, and securing sustainable work opportunities. Day-to-day tasks include meeting with individuals to assess their skills and goals, providing one-on-one employment counselling, and facilitating workshops on resume writing, interview skills, and job readiness.

The Employment

Counsellor will connect clients with training programs, community resources, and employers, while maintaining accurate records, tracking outcomes, and preparing reports.



The role involves collaborating with colleagues and external partners to support integrated services and contribute to program development that responds to community needs.

Qualifications

- Experience in employment counselling, career development, or vocational guidance, with the ability to support diverse job seekers.
- Strong communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport with clients and community partners.
- Ability to facilitate workshops and group sessions, and to create accessible employment-related materials and resources.
- Knowledge of local labour market trends, community resources, and employer expectations in Winnipeg and surrounding areas.
- Organizational and time-management skills to manage caseloads, maintain documentation, and meet reporting requirements.
- Proficiency with basic office software, online job search tools, and digital communication platforms.
- Experience working in community-based settings or with individuals facing employment barriers is an asset.
- Relevant post-secondary education in social services, counselling, human resources, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
