Other elements may also include pay for performance programs (merit pay and discretionary annual performance bonuses), comprehensive health benefits and wellness programs, membership discounts, employee referral bonus, eligibility for our pension plan, career development programs, and professional development/educational reimbursements.Accountabilities: How You Will Make an ImpactDevelop software solutions for electro-mechanical automation in the nuclear industry by collaborating with mechanical, I&C;, and electrical designers.Define and formalize software design requirements based on system operation.Write, test, and troubleshoot software code to ensure compliance with design specifications.Provide hardware recommendations to support software functionality.Design and develop electrical control circuits.Lead and contribute to software development and programming tasks.Prepare and review technical deliverables for software projects.Support project activities, including procedure writing, outage preparation, and project documentation closure.Interface effectively with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and clients.Provide engineering and troubleshooting support at Kipling labs, vendor sites, and client locations.Perform in office commissioning and troubleshooting.Conduct procurement engineering and vendor coordination for projects.Identify and implement process improvements in technical and project management areas.Participate in industry associations, conferences, and technical committees, and contribute to technical publications.What You Need To SucceedBachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical, Computer, or related Engineering discipline6+ years of experience in software design engineering in nuclear or other safety‑critical, highly regulated industries3+ years of experience as technical lead for software and/or computer engineering teamsProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in OntarioExperience designing and implementing control and monitoring systems using PLCs, HMIs, and Data Historians (Schneider, Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, GE, Omron, etc.)Hands‑on experience with SCADA systems or Distributed Control Systems (DCS)Proficiency in IEC 61131‑3 programming languages for industrial automationWorking knowledge of electrical and safety standards for automated equipmentStrong understanding of electro‑mechanical systems, with the ability to test, troubleshoot, and debug complex automation solutionsExperience in software design within regulated industries such as nuclear, aerospace,



or chemical plantsExperience in preparing and reviewing design documentation across all stages of SDLC for CAT I‑IV software in accordance with CSA N290.14 and N286.7Strong understanding of nuclear power plant design, operation, and modernization programs, including control system upgradesThorough knowledge of Engineering Change Control (ECC) processes in nuclear environmentsHands‑on experience with software engineering lifecycle practices, including configuration management and verification & validation (V&V;)Experience in project management and interfacing with and coordinating activities of multi‑disciplinary teamsExcellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem‑solving skills, with a strong commitment to qualityOccasional travel to other Kinectrics’ locations and client sites will be requiredExperience working on‑site at nuclear generating stations; holding a valid OPG andBruce Power Security Clearance is an assetExperience performing condition and performance assessments of digital systems and cybersecurity/OT assetsExperience supporting refurbishment or operating (capital) projects in nuclear facilitiesStrong leadership mindset with the ability to develop and motivate high‑performing teamsStrong business acumen, ability to collaborate with management to lead diverse team in fulfilling internal and external prioritiesInnovative, solutions‑oriented, and comfortable operating in complex, regulated environmentsCollaborative and client‑focused, with a proactive and results‑driven approachThis role requires the successful candidate to complete the security clearance process.
