The Role :

Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Estimator will prepare cost estimates and proposals for demolition projects. The estimator will analyze plans, DSS reports, and environmental requirements to develop accurate and competitive bids for demolition operations. The role requires strong knowledge of demolition operations, disposal logistics and designated substance disposal.

Key Responsibilities

- Comprehensive Cost Estimation: Review architectural drawings, structural blueprints, demolition plans, and civil engineering specifications to perform accurate quantity takeoffs for building structures, concrete foundations, and interior fit-out for complex demolition projects.
- Site Inspections & Field Analysis: Visit diverse project locations (from residential neighborhoods to active industrial plants) to evaluate access constraints, logistical challenges, and structural integrity.
- Hazardous Material & Risk Management: Identify and account for specialized environmental costs, including asbestos abatement, lead removal, mold remediation, and heavy soil contamination.
- Vendor & Subcontractor Procurement: Solicit, review, and negotiate competitive quotes from specialized subcontractors, hazardous waste haulers, and material disposal facilities.
- Asset Salvage Optimization: Evaluate structures for salvageable assets (e.g., structural steel, copper, architectural elements, crushing potential) to offset total demolition costs in bids.
- Proposal & Bid Management: Prepare and present comprehensive, legally compliant bid packages,



formal proposals within tight client deadlines.
- Project Handoff & Continuity: Meet with project managers, site superintendents, and safety directors to review budget allocations, schedule milestones, heavy equipment requirements, and safety plans for won bids.

Qualifications

- Minimum 4 years estimating experience in demolition.
- Valid Drivers Licence and vehicle to travel to mandatory site visits and reviews.
- Strong knowledge of demolition equipment and construction operations.
- Ability to interpret demolition plans and calculate waste volumes.
- Experience with Designated Substance Removal and environmental regulations
- Proficiency with estimating software such as HeavyBid, B2W, Bluebeam, or PlanSwift.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple bids in a deadline-driven workplace.
