Role Description
- Full Stack Developer volunteers support Canadian Museums by designing, building, and maintaining web features that improve the user experience across the platform.
- Day-to-day responsibilities may include implementing front-end interfaces, developing back-end services and APIs, integrating data sources, and ensuring responsive, accessible design.
- Volunteers collaborate with content, design, and technical contributors to test and deploy enhancements, troubleshoot issues, and optimize site performance.
This is a remote volunteer role, offering flexible schedule and the opportunity to contribute to Canada’s cultural sector using modern web technologies.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Full-Stack Development and Software Development, with experience building and deploying web applications.
- Front-End Development skills, including proficiency in React, HTML, and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for responsive, accessible interfaces.
- Back-End Web Development capabilities, specifically using Node.js and PostgreSQL. Knowledge of MongoDB is an excellent asset.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment, communicate clearly, and manage tasks independently.
- Experience with version control tools (e.g., Git) and basic testing/debugging practices.
- Interest in museums, culture, or education, and a willingness to learn new technologies and approaches.
- Relevant education or equivalent practical experience in computer science, software engineering, or related fields is an asset but not required.
- Experience with MongoDB is a plus.
