The University of Toronto’s Faculty of Information invites applications for a part-time Research & Development Associate. You will closely work with the Investigative Journalism Foundation as part of a dynamic project led by Professor Rohan Alexander. This role offers 15-20 hours of paid work weekly from September to April, with possibilities for wage increases based on your contributions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the clerical work for the Open by Default project
• Manage data and document submissions efficiently
• Conduct reviews of algorithm-generated matches
• Write reports detailing dataset creation and workflows
• Collaborate with IJF team and contribute to public-interest journalism
Requirements:
• Excellent attention to detail and process simplification skills
• Previous data handling experience an asset
• Familiarity with Python advantageous
• Available for in-person work on Mondays or Wednesdays
• Commitment to enhancing transparency in Canadian democracy
