The Opportunity
We have an exciting prospect for a talented Human Resources Generalist and Payroll Administrator to join our dynamic team! If you're looking to make an impact on a vibrant company culture, we want to hear from you! The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced work environment.
Reporting to the Controller, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for administering payroll and benefits, coordinating health and safety programs, and managing full-cycle recruitment and employee relations.
Responsibilities and key priorities
- Lead and oversee quarterly employee events and administer employee recognition and service award programs.
- Manage full-cycle recruitment and conduct current employee onboarding and orientation
- Process bi-weekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees through Payworks
- Responsible for administering HRIS data, maintaining employee documentation files, vacation requests, and managing the overall record-keeping, and staying informed about any employee relations issues.
- Administer company-sponsored extended benefit plans and participate in the benefits annual renewal process.
- Administration and oversight of health and safety programs, including return-to-work programs and compliance with WorkSafe BC regulations.
- Participate in and oversee the joint health and safety committee
- Support and assist managers and supervisors in employee relations, enquiries and concerns.
- Maintain and review company and employee policies and procedures
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR programs, services and initiatives.
- Effectively collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team to plan, implement and support HR and people initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Minimum 1 year of payroll processing experience required. Experience with Payworks or other similar payroll software is considered an asset.
- Minimum 2 to 3 years of human resources experience.
- A Diploma or degree in human resources or business management is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint required.
- Excellent communication skills – written and interpersonal.
- Attention to detail, excellent organization skills and exceptional time management skills.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality.
