ThispositioncanbecombinedwithDSCS26-27.004Elementary**Prep enrols approximately 275 students in kindergarten through grade 12, of which 57% are of Indigenous ancestry. Desert Sands Community School is located in thewhich lies on the unceded and traditional territory of the Secwépemc and Nlaka'pamux First Peoples. The school'sguides the work of the school.

REQUIREMENTSANDQUALIFICATIONS:

The successful applicant must have, or be eligible for, certification to teach in British Columbia and possess:

- Inclusion Specialist - Diploma or Masters degree in inclusive/special education w/Level B assessment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with other teachers, parents, support staff, administration and outside agencies;
- At least 5 years successful classroom teaching experience at the elementary level;
- Successful experience establishing skilled boundaries;
- Knowledge of the British Columbia curriculum and core competencies;
- Evidence of strong organization and time management skills;
- Evidence of successful experience supporting students with social emotional challenges and strong behaviour management skills;




- Understanding of and commitment to including trauma informed practice into their work;
- Demonstrated experience supporting learners demonstrating vulnerabilities;
- Significant experience supporting students one on one, in a small group and in the classroom;
- Successful experience integrating local Indigenous culture and traditions into learning opportunities, or familiarity with and understanding of local Indigenous culture and commitment to integrate it into learning.
- A commitment to and successful experience working collaboratively in a team setting and with classroom teachers and support staff;
- The ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the greater community.

Thesalaryrangeforfull-timeteachingpositionswithinGoldTrailSchoolDistrictis$ 63,735to$116,190withplacementinaccordancewithprovisionsintheCollectiveAgreement.Thedistrictoffersacompetitivebenefitsandpensionpackage.
