About Us
Kelly Deck Design is a Vancouver -based interior design studio founded in 2005. We create richly detailed traditional estates, modern city homes, and exceptional vacation properties: soulful, refined homes for discerning clients across Canada and internationally. Under the leadership of our Director,
Kelly, we've built a reputation for sophisticated design that balances vision with precision. Our culture is collaborative, thoughtful, and meticulous. Every project is guided by craftsmanship, curated down to the smallest detail.
The studio is in a strong chapter of growth both at home and abroad, and we're seeking talented individuals who are inspired by these same principles.
The Opportunity
As an Intermediate Interior Designer, the successful candidate will work closely with our Senior
Designer, providing dedicated support with drawings and project administration for our traditional,
richly detailed residential projects —work defined by a high level of millwork detailing and fully tailored design elements.
Day-to-day responsibilities will centre on design development, drawing production, specifications,
and product selection, in support of the team members who lead client relationships directly.
The ideal candidate is technically strong, creatively sharp, and well organized, with a genuine appreciation for traditional, richly detailed interiors and the patience these projects demand.
Key Responsibilities
Design Development and Documentation
- Contribute to design development within Kelly Deck Design's traditional aesthetic, including finishing carpentry and millwork detail,
under the direction of our senior traditional design team.
- Build SketchUp models and renderings to clearly communicate design intent.
- Select, source, and specify finishes, fixtures, and furnishings, and other interior elements.
- Produce comprehensive construction drawing packages, including floor plans, finishes plans,
reflected ceiling plans, power and communication plans, interior elevations, and millwork sections and details, compliant with the BC Building Code and applicable standards.
- Produce specification documentation and furnishings budgets, and coordinate sub-trades for specialized work.
Design Administration
- Coordinate closely with senior design, consultants, and construction teams to ensure drawings, specifications, and design intent remain accurate and aligned through construction.
- Source products, develop and maintain strong vendor relationships, staying current on new materials and suppliers
- Coordinate, organize and/or attend installations and photo shoots
Working Conditions
- Office-based
- Hybrid: 3 days per week in our Vancouver studio, 2 days remote
- Flexibility required around installations, which can occasionally fall on evenings or weekends
Qualifications
- 4 – 6 years of residential design and construction experience
- A diploma or degree in Interior Design or Architecture
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp,
with the ability to produce renderings.
Experience with AI rendering tools is a plus
- Solid both technically and creatively: your drawings are accurate, and your design ideas are your own
- Established product knowledge and ability to build and maintain strong vendor relationships
- A growing command of finishing carpentry and traditional millwork detail
- An exceptional eye for detail —nothing escapes your notice, and nothing leaves your hands unless it is right
- A natural gift for organization: you manage complexity with calm, keep systems tight, and bring order to the moving parts of a busy studio
- Resourcefulness and foresight —you read a situation, anticipate what is needed before it is asked, and act with quiet confidence
- An open, honest communication style; you are warm in your manner, precise in your words,
and thoughtful in how you engage with colleagues and clients alike
- A service-oriented mindset —you understand that supporting others well is its own form of excellence, and you take genuine pride in it
- An openness to AI and recent technology, with real curiosity for how it can sharpen your design thinking and streamline studio workflow.
- A humble, collaborative spirit and an uncompromising love of design
Compensation: $ 75,000 - $85,000 annually, depending on experience
