Junior Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will assist with daily accounting operations, financial record keeping, account reconciliations, and month-end processes. This role is ideal for a recent accounting graduate with 1 to 2 years experience who is eager to develop technical accounting skills, gain experience in a growing organization, and advance their career within the finance function.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Perform daily bank reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled to the general ledger.
- Prepare and record journal entry transactions ensuring appropriate documentation for review and support.
- Prepare general ledger account reconciliations ensuring adequate supporting documentation is maintained.
- Prepare monthly customer invoices in accordance with contractual billing requirements.
- Process independent contractor invoicing.
- Prepare monthly intercompany invoice.
- Perform credit card reconciliations, ensuring appropriate documentation and approval, and entry to the general ledger.
- Process employee expense reports for reimbursement.
- Assist with payroll and benefit administrator as needed.
- Prepare GST/PST reconciliations and submissions.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Collaborate with the finance team to coordinate daily accounting activities and improve workflow efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications preferred
- Diploma in accounting with 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of work experience.
- Understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using Acumatica or other accounting software.
- Experience in construction, contracting, or other project-based industries is considered an asset.
- Must be able to work in Canada.

Reporting Structure
- Reports directly to the Finance Supervisor and works closely with the Accountant, Payroll Administrator, Administrative Assistant, Director of Finance, and operational teams.
