Location: Toronto, ON
Experience Level: 0–3 years PQE (Ontario Call)
Compensation: $70,000–$95,000 annually
As Junior Lawyer, you will support KSI Law's Litigation practice across its full range of matters — building foundational litigation experience under senior counsel while contributing directly to active files from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Drafting pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents.
- Conducting legal research and preparing memoranda on litigation issues.
- Assisting senior counsel in preparing for examinations for discovery, mediations, and trials.
- Reviewing and organizing documentary evidence and preparing productions.
- Attending court appearances, case conferences, and motions with senior counsel.
- Supporting client communications and providing status updates under senior counsel's direction.
- Contributing across the firm's litigation sub-practices, including commercial litigation, employment and labour, professional negligence and insurance, and arbitration and mediation matters.
What You'll Bring
- Called to the Bar of Ontario, or eligible for call within a defined period.
- 0–3 years PQE.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines in a quick-paced litigation environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred
- Prior litigation experience gained through articling or summer/student placements.
- Exposure to commercial litigation, employment law, or professional negligence matters.
Tools & Technology You'll Use
- Clio, for practice and matter management.
- CanLII and Westlaw Canada for legal research.
- Ontario's civil court e-filing systems (Case Center, Civil Claims/Civil Submissions Online, and the Ontario Courts Public Portal, depending on region) for court filings and hearing materials.
