London

Company Description Schlegel Villages is a Canadian-owned and operated organization that manages high-quality long-term care and retirement communities across Ontario. With over 70 years of hands-on experience, the Schlegel family focuses on providing meaningful care and quality of life for older adults. The organization is driven by the belief that elders should remain at the heart of communities, not on the margins.

Each Village is designed as a place where older adults can live with purpose, maintain connections, and contribute to the broader community. Team members are encouraged to grow their careers and personal stories through opportunities available at Schlegel Villages.

Role Description The Kinesiologist is a full-time, in office role based at a Schlegel Villages community in London. This role involves assessing residents’ functional abilities and developing individualized exercise and movement programs that support strength, mobility, balance, and fall prevention. The Kinesiologist will lead group exercise classes, provide one-on-one sessions, and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to integrate therapeutic movement into care plans.

Daily tasks include monitoring progress, documenting outcomes, and adapting interventions to residents’ changing needs and goals. The Kinesiologist also educates residents, team members, and families on safe movement practices,

promotes wellness initiatives within the Village, and contributes to a positive, person-centered environment.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in kinesiology, exercise science, or a related field, with the ability to assess movement and functional capacity and design safe, evidence-informed exercise programs.
- Experience working with older adults or in long-term care/retirement settings, including knowledge of age-related conditions, fall prevention strategies, and rehabilitation-focused exercise.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members, and to support a collaborative, person-centered approach to care.
- Organizational and documentation skills to manage caseloads, track resident progress, and maintain accurate records in alignment with clinical and regulatory standards.
- Relevant post-secondary degree in Kinesiology or equivalent; registration or eligibility for registration with a recognized professional body in Ontario is an asset.
- CPR/First Aid certification and familiarity with safe body mechanics and mobility equipment; previous experience delivering group programs or education sessions is beneficial.
- Commitment to inclusivity, respect, and dignity for all residents, and alignment with Schlegel Villages’ mission of building and strengthening community.
