Depol Contracting Ltd. is a growing landscape construction company serving Nanaimo and the surrounding Vancouver Island area.

We specialize in landscape construction — not routine landscape maintenance. Our projects include retaining walls, paving stones, fencing, artificial turf, excavation, grading, drainage, and complete landscape installations.

We're looking for a hardworking and reliable Landscape Construction Labourer to join our crew.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, isn't afraid of physical work, and wants to develop valuable construction and equipment-operation skills.

Responsibilities

- Assist with retaining wall construction
- Assist with paving stone installation
- Fence construction and installation
- Excavation and site preparation
- Grading and base preparation
- Artificial turf and sod installation
- Drainage installation
- Load and unload construction materials
- Move gravel, soil, blocks, pavers, lumber, and other materials
- Operate hand and power tools safely
- Assist with skid steer and mini excavator operations
- Maintain clean and organized jobsites
- Load, unload, and organize trucks and trailers
- Follow direction from Foremen and Lead Hands
- Follow company and WorkSafeBC safety procedures




- Complete physically demanding work outdoors in varying weather conditions

- Reliable and punctual
- Strong work ethic
- Physically capable of performing construction labour
- Comfortable repeatedly lifting 50+ lbs
- Willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Able to follow instructions and work efficiently as part of a crew
- Positive attitude
- Takes pride in quality workmanship
- Willing to learn recent skills
- Valid driver's licence preferred
- Reliable transportation to work
- Landscape or construction experience is an asset, but not required

- Paving stones
- Retaining walls
- Fencing
- Excavation
- Grading
- Drainage
- Skid steers
- Mini excavators
- Towing trailers
- General construction
