This role requires someone who can quickly understand complex business challenges, establish trusted relationships with stakeholders, and lead the discovery and delivery of technology-enabled solutions that create measurable business value.The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for discovering, synthesizing, and analyzing information from a variety of sources including systems, processes, documentation, data, and stakeholders. They lead complex business analysis initiatives, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend solutions that align business objectives with technology capabilities. In addition to delivering solutions, Senior Business Analysts coach and advise less-experienced Business Analysts and contribute to the evolution of business analysis practices, standards, and capabilities across JDI IT.This position requires full-time on-site presence.All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).ResponsibilitiesBusiness analysis is performed on a variety of strategic, tactical, and operational initiatives that support Irving Shipbuilding's ongoing transformation and continuous improvement efforts.Key responsibilities include:Develop and maintain relationships with business leaders, key stakeholders, external partners, and vendorsUnderstand customer demand versus IT supply and help prioritize opportunities that align with business objectivesLead complex requirements elicitation, analysis, validation, and documentation activitiesInvestigate business problems and opportunities through process analysis and root cause analysisDevelop business cases and support investment decision-makingFacilitate workshops, meetings, and stakeholder discussions to build alignment and drive outcomesCollaborate closely with solution design, architecture, and delivery teams to ensure business needs are effectively metUnderstand system interdependencies and the broader technology landscape supporting Irving Shipbuilding operationsDocument and optimize business processes, capabilities, and data flowsBuild and maintain process models while supporting the definition of business goals, KPIs,
and future-state operating modelsDevelop test strategies, test cases, and oversee business validation activitiesLeverage data and analytics capabilities to support informed business decisionsEnsure the integrity, confidentiality, and security of business dataManage and oversee complex initiatives from discovery through implementationProvide solution recommendations and business-focused designs within their area of responsibilityMentor and coach Business Analysts while contributing to internal business analysis standards, practices, and development programsBalance current operational priorities with future business and technology needs to support long-term organizational goalsQualificationsUniversity degree or college diploma in a related discipline5+ years of experience in a business environment, preferably within ITStrong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilitiesAdvanced facilitation, workshop, and stakeholder engagement skillsExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsDemonstrated ability to influence decisions and provide meaningful recommendations at an executive levelExperience leading complex business and technology initiativesStrong business process analysis and documentation capabilitiesAbility to work independently while effectively collaborating across teamsHighly organized with strong business acumenAbility to challenge assumptions constructively and offer practical alternativesDemonstrated experience coaching and mentoring othersBonus:Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, marine, engineering, or shipbuilding operationsCertified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)Experience with Agile delivery methodologiesExperience with Azure DevOps (ADO)Experience with business process modeling and capability mappingExperience developing business cases and supporting strategic planning initiativesExperience working with enterprise analytics and reporting solutionsAbout the TeamThe belief that what people experience matters more than technology is part of our foundational core.
