Your Prospect:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the interdisciplinary Home Care team and is responsible for providing safe, quality, patient and family centred care in the community setting. Reporting to the Care Manager, Wetaskiwin Home Care, the LPN contributes to the coordination and delivery of care in accordance with established care plans, policies, procedures, and standards of practice. Using strong assessment, organizational, and communication skills, the LPN collaborates with clients, families, and members of the multidisciplinary team to support client goals and facilitate access to appropriate internal and external resources. The LPN provides hands on nursing care, including wound care, IV therapy, catheter care, and other related medical treatments, and participates in direct care activities as required.

Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications: Valid Alberta driver’s license with no Graduated Driver’s License (GDL) restrictions. In addition, the successful candidate must demonstrate: Ability to integrate Patient and Family Centered Care principles into practice. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. Familiar with Palliative Care, Wound care training, IV therapy.

Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of one (1) year of recent community nursing experience. Experience using Connect Care, Microsoft Office, and general computer applications. Wound care education and/or training. Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills. Strong time management and prioritization skills.
