Duties
- Safely operate large commercial trucks over long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Transport freight efficiently from distribution centers to various destinations across regions or countries
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and load security
- Load and unload freight using equipment such as forklifts when necessary, ensuring proper handling and placement of cargo
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, mileage logs, and vehicle maintenance records
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues promptly
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting minor mechanical issues to keep trucks in optimal condition
Experience
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record and proven experience in long-haul trucking or similar roles
- Demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently in various conditions
- Familiarity with freight handling procedures and the use of forklifts or other loading equipment
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance basics and automotive repair techniques to address minor mechanical concerns
- Solid navigation skills with experience using GPS systems or route planning software for efficient deliveries
