HSP Engineering & Environmental Services has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Design Engineer. This is a career position for a well-organized professional who will play an important role in delivering projects in the commercial, institutional and industrial sectors.
The successful candidate must be eligible to be registered as Professional Engineer with PEO, will have attained a degree in Mechanical Engineering and will have a minimum of 2 years experience in a full range of responsibilities related to Mechanical engineering. The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and written skills, be highly organized and efficient with excellent attention to detail and have the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate must
· Identify customer requirements
· Design mechanical, plumbing, HVAC and fire protection systems
· Research suitable solutions
· Prepare equipment and installation specifications
· Evaluate mechanical systems requirements,
suitability of products and components.
· Construction site inspections and meetings
· Prepare reports of design intent, design progress and construction progress
· Liaise with others in the design team
· Communicate with clients and contractors
· Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests.
· Apply codes and standard in accordance with NFPA, ASHRAE, OBC, SMACNA, etc.
Qualifications and Experience
· Be eligible to obtain their P.Eng from PEO
· Mechanical engineer with minimum 2 years experience (degree in mechanical engineering, registered with PEO or Other Canadian Engineering Association)
· Experience in plumbing, HVAC and fire protection systems
· Experience in industry is an asset
· French language an asset
· General knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and ASHRAE
· Experience in AutoCad and/or Revit is an asset
· Proficient in Oulook, Excel and Word
· Highly organized and productive with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
