- Generosity – Humbly giving of time & resources without expectation.

Our clients include architects, consultants, developers, and fire protection contractors, whose projects consist of a variety of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Whether the project consists of a one sprinkler head relocate, or a complete design solution for a 40-storey building, we strive to deliver a premium consulting service based on Design Excellence, Engineered Efficiency, and Timely Service. Although we are quite busy year-round, through our flexible work schedule, we ensure family time and mental health remains our top priority. If this non-traditional work culture and the details provided below are of interest, and you are a fire protection professional, we’d love to hear from you!

Who we are searching for:

We are looking to add a Fire Protection Designer, who shares the above core values, to our work family. With support from our robust internal training program and existing team, you will design fire protection systems, conduct system analyses, and also periodically assist operations as required by conducting periodic site surveys and field inspections at ongoing projects across Ontario and elsewhere in Canada. You will work primarily from your home office, but as noted above, this role will require occasional travel to our head office in St.

Thomas, ON and possibly throughout Canada for both work and training.

Our industry is very rewarding, but is also extremely fast paced. As a result, we have previously identified that a candidate is most likely to be successful in this role if they have "Tenacity" as a working genius, and "Enablement" as a working genius or working competency, as per the the Working Genius Assessment found at: www.workinggenius.com/about/assessment. Candidates are highly recommended to complete this assessment ahead of time and include the results on the resume submission.

Note, should a candidate be selected for an interview, it is expected that the candidate will have completed this assessment, and know their working geniuses, competentcies, and frustrations.

Finally, on your resume submission, please also include the community involvement and / or volunteering initiatives that you are involved in, as serving the community is one of our core values.

What you will work on:

- Using HydraCAD (for AutoCAD and / or Revit) and HydraCALC, you will act as your own project manager and design fire protection systems per project and code requirements, along with company and industry standards;
- You will attend virtual coordination meetings as required by each specific project and communicate project status and design challenges to all project stakeholders;
- You will complete Fire Safety Plans per company and industry standards;

- You will periodically conduct pre-design site surveys to both gather information and examine the condition of existing systems for design specifications, drawings, and calculations;
- You will periodically conduct installation inspections of both in-progress and completed projects to ensure conformance with project and code requirements, as well as company and industry standards; and
- Depending on your experience and current abilities, you may be tasked with other duties as appropriate.

What you need to bring:

- Core values that align with those listed above;
- A "Tenacity" working genius, as well as an "Enablement" working genius or working competency (see above);
- A technical education (diploma or degree) in fire protection, or a discipline related to fire protection (mechanical, construction, or architectural);
- An ability to read and interpret technical documents from all construction disciplines;
- Proficient in the use of both AutoCAD and Revit, as well as Microsoft Office, and Google Drive / Sheets;
- A proven ability to prioritize, problem solve, be organized, and communicate clearly in a dynamic working environment;
- A proven ability to work successfully in both a remote and team environment; the fire protection industry is fast paced, therefore the ability to meet deadlines while working remotely is critical; and
