DescriptionWe're looking for a Software Development Manager with an owner mindset, bias for action, and the ability to dive deep and deliver results. You will lead a team of truly innovative engineers, deliver features to customers around the globe, drive our development process, and be a key influencer in the AWS AppSync roadmap.Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world leader in providing a highly available, durable, secure infrastructure platform in the cloud that powers hundreds of thousands of businesses around the world! The AppSync team owns and operates AWS AppSync, a fully managed, serverless service for building GraphQL and Pub/Sub APIs that securely connect applications to data and events at scale. Developers use AppSync to bring together data from sources like Amazon DynamoDB, AWS Lambda, and HTTP endpoints behind a single API endpoint, and to deliver real-time updates to connected clients through managed WebSocket subscriptions. These are core architectural components for many customers running on AWS.At Amazon, we hire hands‐on managers at all levels. This leader will dive deep into the details on business, operations and engineering. We need technical, detail‐oriented leaders who can build and grow organizations. You need to be able to grow leaders in your organization and lead a charter that grows as your organization grows. Our services operate at large scale, so a passion and discipline around operational excellence is key. You'll also need to be willing to share big ideas and execute to deliver the next big innovations at rapid pace. You'll collaborate with product managers, principal engineers,
and teams throughout the company who are building the next big thing in cloud computing.Key job responsibilitiesHire and develop a strong and highly effective teamManage the day‐to‐day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environmentCreate roadmaps, project plans, and commitments for yourself and your team, then deliver consistently against those commitmentsWork closely with engineers to architect and develop the best technical designEngage with customers and partnersReport on status of development, quality, operations, and system performanceBasic Qualifications3+ years of engineering team management experience7+ years of engineering experience8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experienceKnowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operationsExperience partnering with product or program management teamsPreferred QualificationsExperience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategyExperience in recruiting, hiring,

As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign‐on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
