We are currently seeking a highly motivated, organized, enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic team. Under the immediate supervision of the Principal Investigator and the Research Manager, the incumbent is responsible for supporting the successful conduct and coordination of studies that could include pharma-sponsored or investigator-initiated trials. If you are interested in a specialized nursing role in research that is challenging, stimulating and provides autonomy within a strong collaborative team, this could be the role that you are looking for.Main duties and responsibilitiesImplementation and oversight of clinical research trials from feasibility to closeoutReview new study materials to understand nursing responsibilities and help put these into practice at the clinical trial siteReview, explain and document the patient consenting process related to the studyObtain blood specimensPerform health assessments such as vital signsMix and reconstitute IV medications per research protocolsAdminister intravenous investigational product and monitor for adverse eventsSchedule trial-related procedures such as MRI and PET ScansLiaise with pharmaceutical sponsors, investigators, service providers and the clinical research staffExpected to identify and elevate findings requiring physician reviewReport and follow-up on local adverse events,
serious adverse events and events of special interest in timely mannerAssist in maintaining appropriate on-site storage conditions for investigational productsTrack investigational products and ancillary supplies, including monitoring inventory levels and expiry datesComplete trial-specific source documents as required by protocolParticipate in study, teleconferences and webinars as requiredAssist in drafting informed consents, source documents, ethics applications, funding applications and working templates as requiredAdditional duties may be assigned as appropriateQualificationsRegistered Nurse with a minimum of three (3) years’ experienceCurrent certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standingCurrent Membership in Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO)Current experience in performing venipuncture, phlebotomy, obtaining blood samples, mixing/reconstituting intravenous medications, and administering intravenous medicationsDemonstrated knowledge and ability to utilize the nursing process in planning, implementing and evaluating patient careEvidence of good physical assessment, psychosocial assessment and patient/family teaching skillExcellent organizational and time management skills requiredStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work well within a dynamic interdisciplinary teamExcellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills requiredAbility to set priorities and work independently with accuracy in a dynamic environmentProficiency with MS Office software - Word and ExcelExperience working with patients with dementia, mild cognitive impairment, and Alzheimer’s diseaseCompletion of ICH/GCP, TCPS2 trainingExperience in clinical cognitive testing, neuropsychological testing, and conducting Electrocardiograms (ECGs)Knowledge of IATA shipping regulations and basic laboratory proceduresClinical research (CCRP)
