Join Tropicana Community Services as a Peer Support Worker, providing critical support to youth involved with the criminal justice system in the Greater Toronto Area. This part-time position focuses on relationship-building and mentoring youth aged 12-29. You will engage with youth facing high-risk circumstances, utilizing your personal experiences to connect and foster meaningful relationships.
Providing one-on-one mentoring, you will support youth in their reintegration journey, helping them navigate education and employment opportunities while overcoming challenges related to gang involvement and theft. Key Responsibilities:
- Build relationships through shared lived experiences
- Provide mentorship and support for youth reintegration
- Model positive pathways away from harmful activities
- Assist with life skills development and goal setting
- Manage crises effectively, involving Social Worker if necessary Requirements:
- Understanding of youth justice and gang issues
- Awareness of social media trends affecting youth
- Solid community presence and engagement skills
- Good judgment in sensitive situations
- Flexible evening availability preferred Contribute to a transformative mission through direct peer support within the Black Justice Program.
