Provost's Office webpage: www.Drake.Edu/about/offices/provostJob SummaryThe Academic Affairs Budget Manager is responsible for financial operations and budget management for the Academic Affairs division. The Academic Affairs Budget Manger manages faculty appointment processes, policies and record management. The person in this position serves as a liaison between University administrative offices and University academic units, ensuring compliance to administrative University policies and procedures.Minimum QualificationsMust be a current Drake employeeMust hold an undergraduate degreeMust have served as a budget manager for an academic unit for at least three yearsStrong understanding of Drake's budgeting processExperience with Banner and WorkdayStrong skills in MS Office (i.E., Excel and Word)Preferred QualificationsExpressed commitment to the Drake mission and valuesStrong interpersonal skills (i.E. worked in team-oriented projects)Advanced degree in Accounting or related disciplineJob Duties40% - Monitors the financial operations and budgets for Academic Affairs and prepares executive level summaries for the Provost and those designated by the Provost.
Prepares and analyzes salary information for Academic Affairs in consideration of the operating budget and as relates to salary increases, survey participation, and market considerations in conjunction with Human Resources. - (Essential)15% - Provides leadership and oversight of the operating budget and restricted funds for the instructional, academic support, and student services areas of the University. Monitors the financial performance of all schools/colleges and academic units. Advises the Provost on the most effective alignment and utilization of existing resources to support the institutional mission. Plays a key role in the development of Academic Affairs annual budgets in collaboration with the Academic Affairs units and the University Budget Director. - (Essential)15% - Leads financial planning efforts related to academic and academic support programs in conjunction with the Provost, Deans, Colleges/Schools, and other areas of Academic Affairs. Manages financial initiatives and special interest projects for the Provost and serves as the Academic Affairs financial representative for institutional task forces, committees, and/or project teams. - (Essential)15% - Manages faculty appointment and reappointment letter issuance, ensuring language follows applicable University policies related to faculty appointments. Provides leadership for faculty search procedures, working with Human Resources, search chairs, deans and hiring managers to carry out faculty searches and hires.
