The Indigenous Student
Advisor will lead initiatives and programs tailored to the unique needs of Indigenous students and their families. This role reports to the administrative team and the Indigenous Lead Administrator at District School Board Ontario North East. You will work on establishing relationships, removing barriers to success, and ensuring access to resources that promote belonging. Key Responsibilities:
- Build trusting relationships with students and families
- Identify barriers to student success and address them
- Provide guidance for individualized pathways and strengths
- Facilitate ongoing communication between schools and communities
- Support cultural activities and mentorship in schools Requirements:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma or relevant experience
- Post-secondary education preferred (e.g., Social Work)
- Valid driver's license required
- Knowledge of cultural teachings and practices
- Experience working with Indigenous communities Empower Indigenous students by fostering a supportive educational workplace at Timmins High and Vocational School.
