The Department of Microbiology & Immunology and the Michael Smith Laboratories at the University of British Columbia (UBC) are inviting applications for a faculty position at the rank of Professor in Bacteriophage Biology & Evolution.This recruitment represents a strategic expansion of UBC's research excellence in microbiology, genomics, infectious disease and microbial evolution.The university is seeking an outstanding researcher with an established and internationally recognized research program focused on areas including: Bacteria-phage interactions, Anti-phage defence, Bacterial immunity, Microbial evolution, Antimicrobial resistance, Bacterial diseases and epidemiology, Infectious disease emergence and pandemicsResearch programs with an emphasis on the epidemiology of bacterial diseases in humans and pandemics are particularly encouraged. The successful candidate will become a core member of UBC's interdisciplinary Prepare for Pandemics through Advanced Research in Evolution (PrePARE) research cluster, which focuses on understanding the emergence and evolution of infectious diseases and disease outbreaks.The successful candidate will hold a joint appointment in the Michael Smith Laboratories and the Department of Microbiology & Immunology.Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be expected to:Develop an cutting-edge,
