Platform Monetization Technical Specialist

Pajhwok Afghan News — Afghanistan's largest independent news agency, publishing since 2003 in Pashto, Dari and English — is looking for a technical specialist to find and fix what is holding back our platform revenue.

About us

Pajhwok reaches an estimated six million followers across Facebook, YouTube, X/Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, Telegram and WhatsApp, with combined monthly reach of more than 60 million views and impressions. Around 55–60% of that audience is inside Afghanistan. Our Facebook earnings roughly doubled between late 2025 and spring 2026, so we know the commercial potential is real.

We also know that technical, eligibility and configuration faults across our platform accounts are costing us money. That is the problem we want you to solve.

The role

This is a short, sharply defined technical assignment — two months, front-loaded at the start of a larger revenue project. It is not a strategy or advisory role: strategic direction, pricing and commercial coaching are provided separately by two senior mentors. Your job is the technical work, and to leave our team able to maintain it.

What we need from you:

- Audit. Go through every Pajhwok platform account and monetization set-up — Facebook/Meta, YouTube, X/Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Google AdSense — and identify every technical, eligibility, policy, rights, verification and configuration fault that is reducing or blocking revenue. Give us a prioritised fix list ordered by revenue impact.
- Repair. Fix them. Where a fault cannot be resolved from our side, lodge and document a formal escalation or appeal with the platform.
- Measure. Build a revenue and analytics dashboard our staff can read and maintain,



with a baseline against Jul 2026 and a repeatable monthly routine.
- Specify. Write the technical requirements for our CRM, subscription and payment workflow, and hand them to our web developer.
- Train and hand over. Train eight colleagues to maintain the settings, read the dashboard and diagnose recurring faults, and leave a written technical handover. From October the team runs it without you.

What we are looking for

Essential

- A demonstrable, hands-on record of fixing platform monetization faults on Meta/Facebook, the YouTube Partner Program and Google AdSense — eligibility, policy, rights and verification problems included. Please be ready to tell us about specific cases: what was wrong, what you did, and what happened to the revenue. This matters more to us than anything else on this list.
- At least three years working directly with publisher or broadcaster monetization at a technical level.
- Working command of platform analytics, and of SEO and metadata as they affect monetization.
- Able to specify CRM, subscription and payment requirements clearly enough for a developer to build from.
- Able to train non-technical colleagues to maintain what you have built.
- Skilled fluency in English and reliable working overlap with Canada Eastern Time.

An advantage

- Experience with independent, exiled or diaspora media, or media operating under restricted conditions.
- Experience with multilingual or non-Latin-script channels.




- Knowledge of Afghanistan or the wider region; Pashto or Dari language ability.

Terms

Organisation: Pajhwok Afghan News

Contract: Independent consultancy — 2 months, September and October 2026

Level of effort: Approx. 20 working days per month (approx. 40 days total)

Fee: EUR 2,500 per month — EUR 5,000 total, inclusive of all taxes

Location: Remote, with reliable overlap with Canada Eastern Time

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a short practical exercise: a brief written assessment of one Pajhwok platform, naming the monetization faults you can identify from the outside and how you would investigate and fix them.
