Our Mission
Small Change Fund acts as a catalyst for individuals and grassroots organizations. We work together with partners to improve the workplace; reduce poverty; and promote reconciliation efforts across Canada including, working with Indigenous Peoples to support the protection of their lands, waters and communities. We are a capacity support engine and have helped more than 325 organizations across the country, raising over $30 million for projects, the majority of which tackle environmental and climate-related issues.

The Project Coordinator is a dual-purpose role designed for a highly organized individual who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. You will:
(1) provide critical support to the Project Director for our Holistic Readiness Center, and
(2) deliver practical assistance with project management.
The role requires you to balance meticulous data management and compelling communications with high-level administrative coordination to keep our campaigns on track.
Key Responsibilities
(1) Holistic Readiness Center The Coordinator works alongside the Project Director, who provides leadership and overall direction for program execution. The Center helps NGOs with security issues and the Coordinator:
- promotes and distributes and collects intake assessment forms for NGOs across Canada,
- reviews submissions to identify core areas of need and interest,
- conducts interviews with key groups to gather detailed information on security threats and support requirements, and
- provides ongoing support to the Project Director to address identified security needs.
Additionally, the Coordinator collaborates with the Project Director to plan and promote knowledge-transfer workshops on security topics tailored to both Canadian funders and the NGOs they support. This includes driving workshop signups through proactive outreach and supporting the remote delivery of workshops under the Project Director's guidance.
In their operations and group-relations role, the Coordinator maintains regular availability for scheduled office hours to conduct intake with groups and triage support needs in close coordination with the Project Director. They are also responsible for coordinating intake and timely response to urgent and emerging support requests originating from either funders or program beneficiary groups, ensuring that pressing security concerns are addressed promptly and effectively.
(2) Project Management
This part of the role will:
- Provide administrative and programmatic assistance to the V.P. Projects
- Maintain accurate and timely records of project deliverables, as needed
- Assist with data collection, data entry, and data management
- Respond professionally to public inquiries regarding projects and organizational programs
- Assist in the planning and execution of events and campaign launches
- Work with the Project Management team to help source new projects for our crowdfunding platform and develop evaluation indicators to measure program performance.
Requirements
Education: Post-secondary degree in environmental studies, social studies, political science, data science,
or related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Experience: A minimum of two to three years of experience in a fundraising, communications or administrative role, preferably within a charitable organization.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office; experience with CRM/fundraising databases is essential.
Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
Soft Skills: A "self-starter" mentality with the ability to work independently and as part of a small, dynamic team.
