Some travel throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes may be necessary in accordance with job requirements.Job DescriptionReview and prepare responses on documents received by regulators on compliance issues related to City landfill operationsMaintain data bases related to information and track analytical results associated with compliance requirements including the coordination and support of ongoing and new waste diversion activitiesAssist with the development and amendment of Standard Operating Procedures and By-Laws relating to waste managementInspect landfill sites both open and closed to ensure they are in compliance with all pertinent approvals and, regulation and legislationAssist with training, advising and guiding other departmental staff in performance of tasks and duties relating to monitoring activity and compliance auditingPrepare quotes and other requests for services related to annual reports and other documents or studiesAct as staff resource person to landfill public participation committeesAssist in preparation of approval or amendment applicationsReceive and coordinate the response to applicationsProvide input to the development of the divisional budgetPerform other related duties as assignedSkills/Education RequiredPost-secondary diploma in Environmental Technology or a related fieldMinimum 5 years of related progressive experience, preferably in a municipal environmentMust have or be eligible for the OACETT designation (Ontario Association of Certified Technicians and Technologists)Experience in landfill operations and compliance management and auditing servicesDemonstrated professional and ethical responsibility to protect privacy, use confidential information appropriately, treat sensitive situations with appropriate degree of tact and discretionDemonstrated customer-service and interpersonal skills at a level to develop and to maintain cooperative/team-oriented working relationships both within and outside the organizationExcellent time-management skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines, and the ability to deal with multiple demandsExcellent written communication skills with attention to detail and accuracyExcellent organizational and administrative skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environmentAbility to demonstrate initiative consistently with commitment to quality improvement, sharing process improvement initiatives with managementDemonstrated ability to understand and abide by municipal policies and proceduresDemonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, the internet, and any other related softwarePossess and maintain a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's LicenceUpon a conditional offer of employment, a Criminal Record Check will be requiredApplicants must be prepared for skill testing. #J-18808-Ljbffr
