Hiring Unit: Department of Biology (Professor Mélanie Guigueno)

Position Summary:

- Leads the analyses, writing, and guidance to publication of two manuscripts: a) Unbiased stereology of brains of wild starlings exposed to imidacloprid b) Eggshell microbiome genomic analyses of prairie-nesting songbirds
- Plans, leads, and completes a third smaller-scale project (e.g. cytochrome oxidase analyses on brains of gulls with GPS data).
- Orders supplies for lab and keeps inventory of lab supplies (e.g., packing slips neatly organized in binder; updates inventory spreadsheets).
- Monitors and cares for live birds in N7 and the Phytotron Greenhouses.

Qualifications:

- Attention to details.
- Available on weekends.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Interest in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.

Education/Experience:

- At least 3 years post-PhD experience working in the lab and/or field with live birds.
- Robust background in neuroscience and ecology .
- Expertise in immunocytochemistry.
- Expertise in microscopy, including unbiased stereology.

Location: This position is located in Montreal,



Quebec and the work for this position is expected to be performed in Quebec. Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # (4) qualifier on a scale of 0-4.
