The Operations Forester is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all operational forestry activities within the Revelstoke Community Forest Corporation. Working closely with the General Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering sustainable forest management while developing the leadership, financial, and strategic management skills to become a strong candidate for succession into the future General Manager's role. We are looking for an experienced forestry professional who is interested in leading a community forest organization that balances economic performance with environmental stewardship, community values, and partnerships with Indigenous Nations and local stakeholders. Additional Leadership Responsibilities Work alongside the General Manager to gain experience in all aspects of RCFC's business operations. Participate in strategic planning, annual business planning, and long-term timber supply management. Assist in preparing annual operating and capital budgets and monitor financial performance. Develop experience in contract negotiation, procurement, and risk management. Build relationships with the Board of Directors, City of Revelstoke, Indigenous Nations, government agencies, contractors, and community partners. Support Board reporting by preparing operational updates, reports, and presentations.
Participate in public engagement and represent RCFC at industry and community meetings. Contribute to organizational policy development and continuous improvement initiatives. Assume increasing responsibility for organizational leadership and decision-making as experience and organizational needs evolve. Preferred Qualifications Registered Professional Forester (RPF) in British Columbia. 10 or more years of progressive forestry experience, including operational leadership. Experience managing forestry contracts, budgets, and multidisciplinary projects. Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and relationship-building skills. Interest in organizational leadership and community forest management. Strong business acumen with an understanding of financial management and governance. Experience working with a Board of Directors, municipalities, or community-based organizations is considered an asset. Career Chance The Operations Forester will be given opportunities to develop the necessary skills to become a strong candidate for RCFC's future General Manager position. This position offers a wage between $90,000 to $120,000 based on skill level, qualifications, and experience.
