Nonprofit organization description: The Young Constituents is an organization dedicated to empowering young people to drive meaningful change in their communities. By providing resources, mentorship, and platforms for youth voices, the organization supports emerging leaders in developing practical solutions to local challenges.
Role Description: The Secretary General is a part-time, on-site leadership role based in Calgary, AB, responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational activities of The Young Constituents in Calgary. This role includes managing day-to-day administration, coordinating programs and initiatives, and ensuring effective communication across teams, leads, and members.
The Secretary
General will take part in organizational planning, support youth-led projects, oversee TYC Calgary municipal processes, and prepare key reports and documentation for internal and external audiences. The position also involves building partnerships, guiding staff and volunteers,
and maintaining a skilled, inclusive, and collaborative environment for everyone.
required Qualifications
- Leadership and management skills, including experience overseeing teams or initiatives in a nonprofit, community, or youth-focused environment.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage schedules, documentation, reporting, and governance processes efficiently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports, correspondence, and presentations for diverse audiences.
- Commitment to youth empowerment, inclusion, and equitable practices, with sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Prior experience in community development, youth engagement, or advocacy is an asset.
