BC Pavilion Corporation (PavCo) is hiring a Senior Accountant, Finance to join the team at VCC. Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Senior Accountant is a cross-functional role that bridges the AP and AR functions within the PavCo Finance team. You will provide senior-level support across both verticals, strengthening coverage, contingency and continuity, while offering hands-on expertise in day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, reconciliations, event settlements, and analytical and project work.
For the initial 12–18 months, you will focus primarily on Accounts Payable, providing supervisory oversight of the AP function and supporting continuity across day-to-day operations. WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Accounts Payable (primary focus) Provides day-to-day supervisory oversight of the AP function and team including coaching, workflow monitoring and working with the Director, Finance to ensure high performance and engagement standards are met.
Ensures timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, expense vouchers and payment transmissions (including EFT), maintaining accurate records and control reports.
Reviews and approves Accounts Payable transactions to ensure compliance with organizational policies and internal controls.
Coordinates weekly payment runs, including EFTs, cheques, and wire transfers, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
Audits in-house supplier and departmental invoices for accurate coding to event and G/L accounts.
Oversee vendor management: new vendor setup, maintenance of vendor information, contracts and certificates of insurance.
Maintains and monitors AP systems, approval workflows and segregation-of-duties controls; reviews and helps develop AP policies and procedures.
Creates, reviews and analyzes AP key performance indicators to measure processing integrity, timeliness and effectiveness of the function.
Performs and supports month-end and year-end Accounts Payable activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and audit preparation.
Provides senior-level support for complex Accounts Payable issues and contributes to process improvements and internal control enhancements.
Accounts
Receivable (expanding overtime)
The scope of the AR component of this role will be developed and defined over time as the position broadens beyond its initial Accounts Payable focus.
Anticipated responsibilities may include: Prepares and reviews event invoices, both deposit and post-event.
Supports collections and follow-ups.
Supports AR aging and related month-end activities.
Projects aimed to modernize and improve related processes. Reporting & Other Works closely with other departments and suppliers to ensure proper accounting and internal controls are maintained on a company-wide basis.
Contributes to process improvement and workflow streamlining.
Provides backup support across the finance team and takes on special projects as required.
Performance analytics support.
Supports budget/forecast cycles.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field (or equivalent experience) CPA designation or actively pursuing 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in an event-driven or fast-paced environment Strong understanding of revenue recognition, reconciliations,
and financial reporting Understanding of data analysis and forecasting Proficiency in MS Office suite with advance knowledge of Excel and experience with ERP systems Solid knowledge of PSA and GAAP standards.
High level of accuracy with strong problem-solving skills Ability to analyze financial data and translate it into meaningful insights Organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally with operations and finance teams Transparent and confident communicator, both written and verbal Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment
Able to flex hours during month-end, budget cycles, and event settlements Comfortable working onsite during events when required Takes ownership, shows initiative, and thrives in a team-first culture
High degree of resiliency and flexibility, while remaining motivated by challenging situations. Ability to work under pressure in order to meet tight timelines and to respond to pressing issues
Proactive and takes initiative The salary range for this position is $68,658 - $85,822 Offers will be in line with PavCo’s internal pay equity and qualified candidate’s experience and education.
