SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONSThe role is responsible for providing strategic and scientific leadership in support of the company's Medical Affairs objectives across designated therapeutic areas, Cardio Metabolic or Rare Diseases. Acting as a scientific expert and trusted medical partner, the incumbent facilitates high-quality scientific exchange with healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders (KOLs), institutions, patient organizations, and other external stakeholders to support evidence-based decision-making and optimize patient care.The position leads and contributes to Medical Affairs initiatives through scientific engagement, field intelligence generation, educational activities, and cross-functional collaboration. Responsibilities include maintaining deep expertise in the therapeutic landscape and company portfolio, supporting scientific communication and medical education, responding to unsolicited medical information requests, and contributing to the development of strategic medical resources and projects.The role also supports identification of emerging clinical and market insights, communicates relevant findings internally, mentors colleagues to strengthen scientific capabilities, and ensures all activities are conducted in accordance with applicable regulations, company policies, compliance standards, and strategic priorities.MAIN ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvides scientific support for our client's product portfolio for Health Care Professionals (HCPs), institutions, and organizations, and serves as a scientific expert at key medical and scientific conferences, advisory boards, internal meetings, and patient advocacy group meetingsServes as a primary liaison for clinical and scientific information exchange between our client and HCPs, institutions, and organizations, and maintains discussions related to Cardio Metabolic or Rare diseases.Engages with specified KOLs/external clinical and scientific experts, institutions, and organizations in their territory in appropriate high-level scientific support for publications, education, consulting, and other Medical Affairs initiativesEnsures effective communication across his/her team and cross-functionally in carrying out Medical Affairs tactics as neededAcquires, maintains, and continually develops scientific knowledge related to approved products and pipeline agents,



and the relevant competitive landscapeProvides independent thought to and leads the development of medical affairs resources/projects that further the strategic aims and mission of the companyCollects, analyzes, and communicates fair-balanced information concerning the therapeutic area, treatment options, and emerging standards of careIdentifies strategic market opportunities for our client using scientific field intelligence and communicates these imperatives to internal stakeholdersMentors colleagues on scientific strategies, therapeutic and disease state science – plays a role in professional development for othersResponds to unsolicited medical information requests on our client's productsProvides effective and tailored clinical presentations to internal and external audiences to meet specific audience needsConducts local roundtables and education programs that aim to satisfy the specific needs of individual KOLs and institutionsProvides scientific training to external parties (HCPs/companies) as requiredDemonstrates understanding and mastery of the specific Medical Affairs function within the organizationEnsures the achievement of individual and team objectives and results consistent with medical strategy and corporate prioritiesFollow compliance regulation and SOPsPerforms any other duties required by the managementEDUCATIONUniversity degree in a scientific field (e.G. BSc. or MSc. in Biology, Pharmacy or related Life Science field) or equivalent backgroundEXPERIENCEMinimum 3-5+ years of experience in Medical Affairs, Medical Science Liaison, roles.Demonstrated experience engaging and building trusted scientific relationships with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), academic centers, and healthcare organizations.Experience delivering high-quality scientific exchange, including clinical data interpretation, disease-state education, and discussion of treatment landscapes.Strong understanding of the Canadian healthcare workplace, including provincial healthcare systems,



patient access pathways, standards of care, and relevant stakeholders.Experience supporting or participating in Medical Affairs activities, including advisory boards, congresses, investigator interactions, medical education initiatives, and insight generation.Proven ability to analyze and communicate clinical and scientific evidence, including publications, guidelines, and real-world evidence where applicable.Experience generating, synthesizing, and communicating field medical insights to support strategic decision-making.Demonstrated ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams (Medical Affairs, Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, Clinical Development, Pharmacovigilance).Experience responding to unsolicited medical information requests and maintaining scientific exchange in compliance with applicable regulations and company procedures.Knowledge of Canadian pharmaceutical industry regulations and codes of conduct (e.G., Innovative Medicines Canada, Health Canada requirements, pharmacovigilance obligations).Experience developing and delivering scientific presentations and educational programs to diverse audiences.Ability to work independently in a field-based environment while managing multiple priorities and territories.Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills in both written and verbal formats.Experience within rare diseases, specialty care, or the assigned therapeutic area is considered an assetBilingualism (English/French) is a plusPreferably to be based in: Quebec, Ontario, BCWillingness and ability to travel within Canada as required (typically 30-40% travel, depending on territory).SKILLSAbility to set goals, prioritize and meet deadlinesExcellent planning, management and organizational skillsExcellent writing skills and ability to create scientific reportsHigh attention to detail and quality orientedStrong investigative skillsGood oral presentation skillsAbility to multi-taskAbility to generate ideas and find solutionsAbility to work independentlyAble to work well in a team environment and communicate wellGood stress managementAvailable for occasional business travelOTHERProactive and results-oriented with a positive attitudeTeam player and willing to help othersFlexible and open to ideas #J-18808-Ljbffr
