Job Summary The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting in the various activities of the Pharmacy Services Department of a technical or clerical nature, under the supervision and direction of a pharmacist. These duties will include Chemo preparation and training with the Special Access Facilitator.
The Pharmacy
Technician is accountable on a daily basis to the pharmacist working in the area assigned. The incumbent is responsible for delivery of care consistent with the vision and values of the hospital and the standards of relevant professional organizations.
The Pharmacy
Technician complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Standards for the Hospital and is proactive in promoting a protected work setting.
Qualifications
Previous hospital pharmacy experience – preferred
Experience in the preparation of chemotherapy drugs - preferred
Knowledge or experience of processing prescriptions involving third part drug plans - preferred
Knowledge of hospital and pharmacy policies and procedures
Good reading, writing, mathematics, typing and oral communication skills
Ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team
General valuable health and a level of fitness appropriate to the demands of the position
French language skills an asset
Education
Graduate of an Accredited Pharmacy Technician program - preferred
Registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists - required
