Prairie Vision is hiring an Optometric Assistant on a 9–12 month contract, with real potential to convert to a permanent full time role. You’ll support the team across reception and diagnostic testing, with training provided on everything. No prior optometry experience needed.
What you’ll do
Greet patients and manage check-in, check-out, and payments
Answer phones, emails, and texts, and book appointments
Verify Alberta Health Care and private insurance coverage, and submit claims
Perform initial exam testing (visual acuity, autorefraction, Optomap, OCT, and others — all trained on the job)
Instill diagnostic drops as directed by the optometrist
Enter patient history and test results accurately in the EMR
Keep exam rooms clean, stocked, and ready between patients
Support the team with other tasks and projects as they arise
What we’re looking for
High school diploma or equivalent
Warm, professional manner with patients
Robust attention to detail with records and billing
Comfortable learning recent software and equipment
Adaptable — happy to help out where needed
Dependable and punctual
Able to commit to the full 9–12 month contract
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $16.00-$18.00 per hour
